Congrats to Scott McVey

The province of Manitoba’s Scott McVey had a commanding performance last weekend to earn yet another major NHRA circuit victory….

Racing his Chevy Monte Carlo, during the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series All-American Hot Rod Showdown event (at Gateway Motorsports Park — Madison Illinois), the Canadian racer was pretty much in complete control of the event’s 8-car Top Alcohol Funny Car class field.
McVey, who is based from Ile Des Chenes, Manitoba, defeated Andrew Bohl of Racine, Wisconsin, in the Top Alcohol Funny Car finale. He had a better starting line RT in that final to take a 5.613 sec./260.56 mph to 5.627 sec./263.62 mph decision.
To reach the final, McVey had defeated Todd Robertson in the first round and Lance Van Hauen in the semi-final.
And for good measure, McVey also blitzed the track ET record at 5.591 secs while qualifying #1!
“St. Louis was a nice bounce back event for us,” said Scott McVey.  “We have been having Gremlins all season between unexpected parts failure ( pushrod adjusters and lifters) and goofy stuff happening.   The track was great all weekend and the crew did a fantastic job of putting a great car on the track all weekend. We really have to thank Lucas Oil Products and Polo Park Bowling Center for their support this year and all the parts manufacturers that got our parts repaired or new parts coming on the quick turnaround after Columbus.”
“We ran low ET each round and reset the track record,” he added.  “The car was mostly happy and we have a fast hot rod and are looking forward running for the North Central regional Championship.  This is a great way to lead into my home race in Brainerd (NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals) coming in two weeks.”
This win gave McVey a 52 point lead over Chris Foster in the overall NHRA Lucas Oil North Central Region standings.

Scott McVey scored his 4th career NHRA victory at the Lucas Oil Divisional/Regional level last weekend.
